About Us

A focus on patent quality.

Let’s make the patent process clear and engaging for innovators and businesses.

Clements IP began with a simple idea: that patents should be more than paperwork — they should be powerful tools for innovation.

After over a decade in patent law, Derek had seen firsthand how many large firms often approach patent applications as a numbers game. With high overhead and pressure to prioritize volume, Big Law often places strict limits on the time attorneys may spend on each application. The result? A process driven by output, not outcomes — and patents that too often lacked strategic value.

I prioritize building an open, collaborative relationship with our clients. My goal is to work alongside you to protect and maximize the value of your innovations.” – Derek E. Clements

Frustrated by this system, Derek envisioned something different. He founded Clements IP to offer clients a more thoughtful, intentional approach — one that values quality over quantity and is committed to securing patents that actually matter.

At Clements IP, every application is treated with care and precision. The goal isn’t just to check a box — it’s to protect ideas in a way that builds real, lasting value for clients.
